Where to begin! So many incredible artists with such distinct voices, sounds and love-ability (if thats even a word!). I'm going to rate these guys from 1st to 15th, 1st the being, in my opinion excellence, and last also being excellence, just a strech under the 1st, if you know what i'm saying!
1. Bon Iver : If you're thinking, who's he? get on that horse and download him! He amazing, his voice is so powerful, yet so incredibly soft. You can listen to one of his songs on repeat for hours and not even notice because its soothing and almost like a natural sound. One of his best songs would have to definetly be "bloodbank " because it has A. Excellent lyrics b. A very powerful chorus and sound to it c. its soft and relaxing and even if the beat might be a little faster than a normal Bon Iver song, it will still make you want to sleep at night.
2. Patrick Watson : Oh hello there! This artist is slowly starting to rise. You may have first heard him in the amazing song " to build a home - the cinematic orchestra " where he is the voice of the song! Slowly he is rising and getting more and more known, because his music is definitely unique. Just recently his song " The great escape " was featured on an orange juice commercial, how awesome is that! His lyrics are so incredibly metaphorical, and unique. His sound is slow and down to earth. If you don't love him, you definitely should.
3. David Gray : an english singer-songwritter, who released his first album in 1993, and got recongnized world wide 6 years later. Look at him now! With over 8 albums released, and world wide success David Gray is amazing. He always makes me feel better, no matter what mood i'm in. I love that alot of his lyrics talk about romance, sometimes bad sometimes good, because It allows me to fantasize about love one day. Now for his voice; so incredible, you'd know it was him if any song started to play. It's probably one of the most recognizable singing voice, other than Norah Jones that i've ever heard! I don't even have to ask when I hear one of his songs, because his incredibly powerful voice does the talking for me. Definitely have a listen if you have not already!
4. Radical Face : love love love love love! Not widely know, but most certainly should be! Very different, but extremely relaxing. When I'm studying I always listen to these guys. " Welcome home, son " and " Along the road " are among two of my favorites. You really have to listen to their music, the lyrics are deep and the sound is different, but it's easy to love them. As soft as the music is, it's extremely powerful and pulls you in as soon as you turn them on.
5. William Fitzsimmons : Where to begin! This man is incredible on top of having one of the largest beards i've ever seen! His voice is soft, not cracky. When one is sad, listen to him, he makes you feel better. His songs have so much meaning to them and they make you want to sing with him. In my opinion his best song would have to be " I don't feel it anymore (song of sparrow) featuring Priscilla Ahn. This song tells the story that keeps you thinking through out the entire song. Priscilla Ahn plays such a powerful role in the song, its among one of the best song's i've ever heard.
